Top 5 Women Centric Movies Of  2017-2018

Whenever someone says, Bollywood, our brain directly takes us to Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Or else, all the thumka jhumka of the likes of Shiela and Munni, aka, the item numbers.
But then again, there are actors like Smita Patil, Shaban Azmi, Rekha and Vidya Balan, the leading ladies of Bollywood who have done many films which are different than the mainstream Bollywood movies. These movies are full of content and actually makes sense. They try to show us, a different view towards film and give us a realistic approach.
Today we are going to discuss some recent movies which are content driven and are women centric. They have tried to tackle the woes of women and tell us how amazing and strong women can be. Here we list down Top 5 Bollywood films showing feminism
Mardaani: This movie took the concept of gender neutrality to some other level. Not only did the makers of the film advertise feminism but also aptly used it in the film. The lead of the film played by the very versatile, Rani Mukerji, is a senior inspector who doesn’t hold back being a woman. The story is about justice and only justice. The end credit song smashes the ball out of the court and gives the movie a necessary conclusion that it deserves. And, for all the ladies out there, this film will give you reasons to stand up for yourself!
Parched: Bollywood has time and again given films with friendship goals, but have you realized it’s generally about male friends. Brotherhood has always been an important part of Bollywood, but very fewer films have been made about sisterhood. And, this film is one such movie which impress us with the concept of sisterhood! The movie is set in a village and talks about the woes of women living in a patriarchal society where talking about sex and freedom is a taboo. Parched breaks all kinds of stereotypes!

Angry Indian Goddesses: This movie also talks about the sisterhood and the relationship between female friends but is stark opposite to that of Parched. This film talks about new gen urban women and their problems and how they overcome it with the help of one another. It talks about same sex marriage and mental disorder: topics which are underrated. Modern women fighting for their lives- who can be as gentle as Maa Lakshmi and get as strong as Maa Kali. Must watch for all the women out there!

Lipstick Under my Burkha: The name itself suggests how rebellious this film could have been. This film also talks about various women but the important aspect is, it tells us about the problems of women at various stages of their lives. Ratna Pathak talking dirty over the phone to a young Muslim girl breaking rules to follow her dreams. It shows it all. Indian society has always tried to demean women and this film shows that and tells us how to tackle the problems.

Padman: This is the last film on our list and we couldn’t have had a better ending. Women centric films from a woman’s perspective are one thing but women problem from a man’s perspective is truly breaking the stereotype! PadMan is one of the most awaited movies of 2108. This film talks about a sensitive issue like menstruation and teaches us that you don’t have to be a female to be a feminist! The movie revolves around Akshay Kumar who plays the role of a man who goes against the world and it’s hypocrisy to provide low cost sanitary napkins and talks about menstrual hygiene! Kudos to Akshay for trying to do something different and winning our hearts all over again!
